Unfortunately we thought we had booked at the Ibis Airport, so it was a real letdown to arrive at such a an old property. Depressing and practically no facilities, more like a backpacker place. Blind wouldn’t stay halfway up or down, all up or all down so no light and privacy. Felt like a cell. Couldn’t swing a cat in the room, very old and low pillows ..we had to put our coats underneath to build them up so they were comfortable to sleep on. Nowhere in room to fill up kettle, tried putting it under bathroom tap but kettle doesn’t fit in sink! Had to go to foyer/ dining area for pump action thermos to fill it until we finally figured out we could take the cups in our room and and bit by bit fill the kettle. Hardly acceptable! Had to yell for the receptionist to hear me when I wanted help, as I was unable to find a ring bell at desk. Mentioned this to guy behind desk but he didn’t offer any confirmation there was another way to contact him.Vending machines for food? I suppose that does fit in with the “budget” name although wasn’t keen on a chiko roll microwaving. We were very tired from travelling but had to go to shops to find something to eat. On the plus side it was clean and the bed was comfortable, although I looked underneath mattress to make sure there were no bedbugs! Would never stay there again and couldn’t wait to get out of there. Spoke to other clients who had disappointedly been booked by company to stay there and their opinions were the same. Definitely budget and great for backpackers I’m sure, but not enjoyable for us. property

View across the river to the Ferris wheel was relaxing. breakfast was good and the 6.30am start suited. Location close to my business address for the day so I'll be back although possibly not for another year (an annual visit to a place in Brisbane for performing a risk assessment). Room quiet too. And a slightly delayed checkout time (11.30am) was approved by the staff - much appeciated as I had business on Friday morning. Ticked all my boxes!

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.
Lots to see and do for everyone. Weather was fantastic and if you have a car you can explore far and wide. If you have no car, walking or public transportation will get you to most places.
I can highly recommend:
Southbank - beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. Playgrounds for children, spaces to eat, exercise, relax or just enjoy the view.
Northshore Eat City - fantastic atmosphere, exceptional variety of food, drink and live entertainment. great to see so many families enjoying this space.
Mount Tambourine - gallery walk is worth the drive, as is the scenery.
The tree walk at Mt Tambourine was very relaxing and such a beautiful area.
The outback spectacular is a must see, the food alone was exceptional, but coupled with the show - it is well worth it.
Australia Zoo is another must see attraction, it is an immense area that takes a full day to enjoy - take your walking shoes, waterbottle and hat. The animals are well cared for in beautifully constructed areas, with, staff that are approachable, knowledgeable and well trained to care for the animals.
Suncorp Stadium is another place that is well worth a view, especially if you are interested in event that is happening.

Brisbane is a bustling city, with lots of options to entertain yourself.
We did use public transport to broaden our view of the city and was pleasantly surprised how clean the city and its amenities were. The entertainment precinct was great, and lots of entertainment on offer.
The ferry trip with the Citycat was an excellent way to see the town centre from start to finish, and well recommended.
The park next to Queensland University was excellent, and great amount of history with the government house, and awesome bridge back towards South Bank and several museums.
For quiet drinks and great food, Fish Lane with outdoor bar, and excellent Julius Italian restaurant.

Beautiful city. Has everything needed or wanted.
Beautiful city. Has everything needed or wanted. Walking distance, scooters, Uber. So much to do. So much to eat. Very friendly city. Stayed at Skytower in a sky high apartment. Great view of Southbank. Went to the markets. Tried so many restaurants. Threw some axes at Maniax. Burgers from Betty’s burger are to die for. Shopping shopping shopping.
The location to everything in Southbank is exceptional! Far enough away to not have the noise but close enough to walk down and appreciate everything that’s going on in Southbank. The hotel is in such a fantastic location for exploring and going into the CBD. The room is reasonably sized with a very comfortable bed and lovely linen. The hotel reception is modern and open with the staff being very helpful and friendly. Would return here in a heartbeat!
I was seeing an evening show at QPAC and this was the perfect location to stay. The hotel was close to QPAC and the surrounding streets and hotel entrance were well lit so I didn't feel nervous walking back after the show. My room was very clean and faced the river & city so you had a lovely view sitting out on the balcony. This hotel is also ideal for visiting anything located at Brisbane's South Bank
Hotel Alpha was a really great place to stay located super close to everything! Definitely the place to be if you're after accommodation within the city heart. All staff were super friendly & helpful + we had a huge room with a really comfortable bed. Also the block out curtains are a huge win if you like a sleep-in or even if you've had a big night out in fortitude valley.
The apartment was so handy to Fish lane which has lots of local restaurants, bars and cafes as well as short stroll to South Bank, West End and the Brisbane CBD. For theatre goers it's a 2-minute walk to catch your favourite show & you can indulge in as many before and after drinks as you like with a quick stroll back to the apartment.
This hotel is in a brilliant location. Its right opposite the botanical gardens and is a short walk to the Southbank and the CBD. The room was spacious and it was brilliant to have a balcony space overlooking the garden. Our children loved the pool and hot tub, as well as the buffet breakfast. Having free parking is a huge bonus.
The location is walking distance to central Brisbane CBD and Southbank. There are lots of food places within walking distance. There is parking on site though limited spaces for $28/ night and a narrow typical city parking. There was a hair dryer and a straightener in my room. They provided toiletries.
The apartment had lovely views over the river and to the glasshouse mountains. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The location is excellent for the GOMA and Southbank as well as the Petrie Barracks restaurants. It was also an easy walk into the CBD.
Always love our stay here location is great car parking covered
Staff friendly
One of favourite places to stay in southbank
This time had a great view of river and suncorp stadium
Walk to qpac and southbank brisbane cbd
We like nothing in this hotel. The space inside the apartments were good but rooms were full of dust. We have stayed in the hotel for 3 nights but they haven't even provided us at least toilet papers for the next two days.
The location was fine, an easy walk to the Brisbane CBD and Southbank, Qpac Event Centre and many restaurants and bars. Coles was only a couple of blocks away. The room size was adequate. The pool facilities were good.
Easy walk to West End for restaurants, cafes, pubs, supermarket and unique shops. Easy walk to Brisbane Convention Centre, Lyric Theatre, Southbank, restaurants, etc. Close to transport. Very central location
Location and ammenities are fantastic. Easy walk to most of the things you would want in Brisbane CBD and Southbank. Easy access to accomodation and great view of Storey Bridge, particularly at night.
The staff (and the cleaners) were really lovely & the bathroom was newly renovated. It was the cheapest CBD Hotel in Brisbane that weekend so you have to keep that in mind.
Nth in particular. I don't know why hotels in Brisbane are so high priced. We had to book Turbot because it was the cheapest one near the city that night.
