I like catching the tram to Circular Quay and the ferry to all the stops to explore for the day. I connect with local buses. Balmain, Double bay, Darling Harbour are all worth visiting and each has different qualities and attractions. I always visit the Art Galleries and the Westfield tower especially at dusk to watch the sunset. The city has many arcades to explore and the Queen Victoria Building is a must see just for its architecture and the shops are unique and eclectic. You can Bus to Bondi and walk along an undulating coastal track. We walked to Coogee. Each cove has cafes and beaches to explore. China town food halls are great for yummy inexpensive food. Lots to see.

As a new Zealander, flying into Sydney, I find the train from the airport is wonderful and both trains and bus trips using my Opal travel card makes this city easy to get around. I was amazed at the number of great shopping malls, theatres and lovely beaches there were. Riding the ferries is a highlight!

Darling Harbour is fabulous with lots of places to walk to or get buses straight to Bondi, Maroubra, Coogee, Rose Bay, double Bay. The free Saturday fireworks are brilliant and Chinatown is on the doorstep. It was relaxing but full of so many great options every day.

Staying in the CBD means public transport right outside the door. No need to find and pay for parking - expensive to do so. public transport is cheap compared to Brisbane. A lot of attractions still in walking distance. Some places provide a discount for attractions and parking a car at the hotel.
Not all hotel rooms have kitchenettes, so that is a con.
Excellent location - very close to CBD for shopping, Opera house and Quay, Botanic Gardens and Gallery, and the other way loads of amazing restaurants around Darlinghurst and the Cross. Bed extremely comfortable. Surprised to have great view including harbour in the distance. Fixtures and fittings a little old and tired but all was exceptionally clean. Not a high-end hotel but perfectly fit the bill for us - mum and daughter in Sydney for the ballet, shopping, and nice dinners. I will stay there again.
Rydges is just too convenient when you’re going into or out of the international terminal at Sydney Airport. from the arrivals hall, keep heading right until you get to the end of the terminal. cross the street and you’re at Rydges. New, clean, quiet, comfortable. And BTW, if you think it would closer or easier to stay at the hotel in the airport if you’re transmitting like I was, it’s not, you still have to go through Customs and spend just as much time and effort to get there.
Loved this boutique hotel and will definitely stay there next time I'm in Sydney. I normally stay at luxury hotels in the CBD for work but I enjoyed this stay far more. The room was clean and really comfortable. It was super quiet at night time even tho the hotel its on Oxford St and the staff are really friendly. They have an area downstairs where you can make a coffee and help yourself to a yummy pastry or two in the morning. Thank you Mrs Banks Hotel :)
The location is close to the airport which is very handy when you need to quickly get to or from the airport. Noise insulation in the rooms is excellent - one does not hear the aircraft landing or taking off, or any of the noise from the street. Short walk to the train station (5-6 minutes) makes trips to CBD or other locations around Sydney very easy. Additionally, there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, adding to the ease of using public transport.
From the impressive entrance, attentive staff, valet parking the atmosphere is set for a great stay. The Finger Wharf is a grand building in a good location within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants and the adjacent harbour bays are quite calming. The rooms, bar, breakfast area, pool and spaces in between all have a sophisticated and quirky design that sets them apart from standard hotels.
It is a budget hotel near the airport with a shuttle that can provide service to/from the airport for 10 AUD each way. The hotel room was comfortable, clean and quiet. I booked it since I was flying back out the next morning, and the proximity to the airport eliminated the stress I would have experienced had I gone all the way into downtown Sydney and then back out to the airport the next morning.
Location was excellent. We flew from Melbourne and caught the train at the airport - it stops literally next door to the hotel. The location withing the CBD was excellent - walking distance to good cafe restaurants and the train station nearby adds to convenience. The rooftop bar was excellent and we enjoyed our evenings up there after a hectic day exploring.
Parking efficient; check-in very professional; the room was very comfortable and bigger than most hotels. The combination of the heritage and the way it has been modernised makes it a pleasure to come “home” to. My fathers office was in the building when it was a government location in the 1960’s. We have stayed there before and we will be back.
The best is the hotel location. It is a very short walking distance from the central train station. I took train from the Sydney airport to central station and walked to the hotel by myself with luggage. The hotel staff was friendly and I liked the breakfast. The room was clean and nice.
Honestly one of the nicest Sydney hotels I’ve stayed in! The room was very spacious, and incredibly clean. It was also handy having a fully equipped kitchen. The location is fantastic - really close to the airport and there are nearby eateries and a grocery store.
Hotel is well situated, easy walking distance to office at Bangaroo and all the attractions of the harbour end of the city. Room was comfortable and well laid out, lots of space as well as wonderfully large windows with sill to sit on and take in the surrounds.
Hotel at attractice price incl breakfast close to airport and 15min walking distance to Mascot station which brings you to CBD in a few minutes.
Note Hotel Inn Express is not Hotel Inn Airport even closer to Mascot station.
Excellent large apartment. Bed was super comfortable. Well equipped. Lots of restaurant and food options around and supermarket super close.. very close to the airport, much better than most of the airport hotels.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a great view of Darling harbour. The apartment was huge with a separate office space/room. Great location with easy access to Town Hall station & CBD/Darling Harbour.
The location was terrific. The hotel was a short walk to the Mascot Station and was near a grocery store and some great restaurants. It was easy to get to Sydney CBD and tourist sites.
Very close to Sydney Airport and Central Station. A convenience store and a supermarket near this hotel. Good restaurant, clean room, comfortable bed, and very friendly staff.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful
Hotel is very close to parking station and airport, great place to stay for stop over or when flying out of Sydney.
Proximity to airport was key for us. We got into Sydney late and this hotel was a 20 minute walk from domestic terminal. Room was clean and staff friendly.
