The weather was so bad that I don't think we saw the best of the town. However the front is very clean and there are a few shops in the town centre plus a cinema and a concert hall. It is a good place to use as a base to visit other places and the bus service is very good if you don't have a car.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a tourist information office but the library staff were very helpful as was the guest house owner. I enjoyed visiting the landmarks and just walking along the coast. The Jam Jar cinema was also worth a visit.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter. I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.

Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.

Location is lovely, my room had a sea view. Decoration throughout was clean and fresh. Staff were lovely and made you feel very welcome. Breakfast was tasty and large portions. Car park five minute walk and cheap at £3 for all day parking. Location and transport great we stayed here as going to a gig at St James's Park in Newcastle and other guests were going to Stadium of Light in Sunderland for a gig. Lots of shops, pubs and of course Spanish City within walking distance.

The location was very good. Close to the sea as well as the shops. Road was nice and quiet. Nice to have an off road parking space. The message sent about the keysafe was easy to understand. The sitting room was nice and bright. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the main bedroom was nice and dark, whereas the back bedroom, although nice and quiet, was not very dark in the morning.

Everything about Hotel 52 was great. Staff were lovely from arrival to departure. If we needed anything they would oblige. Rooms very clean and welcoming. Everything was spotless. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and local shops and bars and restaurants. I booked in advance for the evening restaurants to avoid any disappointment. 10/10 for me. Will definitely go back

It’s a budget hotel but it’s pretty good despite that. The room was a reasonable size. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good. The people on reception were friendly and helpful and the room was cleaned and tidied during our stay. The hotel is close to the beach and the shops. If you need a place to stay in Whitley Bay you could do a lot worse.

Back home after a wonderful stay at the Metropolitan Guest House. Paul & Lee were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was excellent, modern and very clean. The breakfast has to be one the best we've ever had in a guest house or a hotel, a magnificent spread indeed. We will most certainly be going back here

Unfortunately no one seems to care. It's a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location but the staff are young and inexperienced and it's unloved. Otherwise is a great hotel with fantastic size rooms in a good location. Could be so much more.
