Good breakfast with great service, evening bar menu very good and not expensive. The location is fantastic for walking, with forest routes anywhere from 1 to 10 miles. The beds are large and very comfortable, with big airy rooms. Above all the staff are great.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.
The hotel and my room was very nice, clearly recently renovated however the main reason for booking the hotel was the fact it had EV Charge points. On arrival I found the parking bays nicely marked out and the cables ran down the walls but no chargers. Very disappointing and annoying as I had to spend 2 hours in Dumfries this morning charging up my car for the onward journey. I feel the property was mis-sold to me and I will be seeking a refund. someone in your business needs to be updating your information on booking.com.
The hosts, Sally and Ian, were very nice and bent over backward to help us. We got in several hours late to a traffic problem and they worked closely with us to ensure a great stay. The breakfasts were quite good and the king size bed was very comfortable. The location was also quite good as the home was in a quiet area yet only a 10 minute walk from some good restaurants in Dumfries.
Comfortable accommodation, breakfast set up very good, with optional porridge (which was delicious) followed by a buffet style Scottish breakfast, plus toast, cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. Lovely building and in accesssible area for access to Dumfries or to explore Dumfries and Galloway further.
The staff we met were very helpful and friendly and there was plenty of parking on site.
Arrived after having been at work earlier that day, followed by longish train journey from Manchester, so great to get off the train at Dumfries, cross a road and arrive at hotel in less than a minute. Easy to check in and out. Room in good location within hotel. Comfortable room, provision of tea/coffee, plenty of sockets to charge phone. Good quality shower and bathroom.
We had a splendid, spacious room in this lovely 1920s Arts and Crafts house in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. Our room was furnished with a genuine antique four-poster bed with matching wardrobe, all very tasteful. A good full Scottish breakfast set us up for our onward journey. The house is a 0.8 mile walk into the centre of Dumfries
We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend this hotel. The owners go above and beyond to welcome you and make you feel at home. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is one of the highlights. We look forward to returning for more than one night next time.
The room was comfortable and clean, the hotel is a beautiful old building, the staff were friendly ☺️ We really enjoyed the Scottish breakfast every morning, the melon and yoghurt was a delicious extra touch. We found it very good value.
It was lovely to be able to bring our dog in overnight too.
A hotel with better amenities than most accommodation in Dumfries. It's great to have an extra heater in the room. It was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Having a bar in the lobby of the hotel is also a very good opportunity. You can sip your drink in front of the fireplace.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful old house with very nice grounds near Dumfries. The staff members were really friendly and helpful and our room was excellent: big and clean. We had an evening meal at the restaurant, which was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning.
The location is great. You can walk to most of the sites in Dumfries. Jackie is a wonderful hostess willing to chat and answer any questions about the area. Everything was immaculate and breakfast was well prepared and delicious - even the haggis.
Great hosts, great location - Guests stayed for work, felt well looked after and rested for each shift when getting back on site. I'd recommend to book with the owners of the hotel directly for any upcoming visits in Dumfries :)
Located in the heart of Dumfries, the host was very organized and access to the room was easy. Our stay was short so we didn’t have time for breakfast, but the room had lovely flowers and we were very comfortable there.
The hotel was a pleasant place to stay over for our stop over in Dumfries. The bed was fine and the room was warm enough. We were pleased to be able to leave our car in the car park between checkout and leaving Dumfries.
Lovely guest house and very friendly staff! Good location, very walkable to anything in and around the Dumfries town center. Breakfast was good. Rooms warm, a nice respite from the frost outside!
The room was very comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel was on the affluent Edinburgh road side which was a relief having seen the rest of Dumfries town.
I’d stay again - A good value small single room with facilities and comfortable bed, good location to reach Dumfries town centre, very helpful and friendly staff.
