With free WiFi, this 5-star inn offers a concierge service and luggage storage space. The property is non-smoking and is set 29 km from World of Beatrix Potter. I booked the Torsin suite for the night for my wife’s birthday, the pictures don’t do the suite credit, it was incredible; so much so that we cancelled our original anniversary plans for the end of August and booked the same suite again for our anniversary. The location is great, we were able to check in early with a bottle of champagne ready as requested and the service was good and friendly. The pub and restaurant downstairs was welcoming, especially the log fire with comfy sofas around it and (although we didn’t take ours) it is dog friendly, so a real plus if we come again for a family break. There was a good breakfast included and an altogether excellent stay.

The guidebook in the room was very helpful and provided information about things to do in the Lake District area, by foot or car. I took a 45 minute walk around the nearby farm and enjoyed quiet, scenic views. The unit we stayed in consisted of a large living room, full kitchen, bedroom, and bath with shower and tub. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, both meals were scrumptious. There was a great vibe at dinner and it was clear that this is not just a spot for guests, but also popular with the locals. Parking was available just across the street. We would definitely stay here again.

- Excellent facilities - Character property with beautiful grounds - Good location and plenty of parking - Good breakfast and nice dinner in the Tavern - Friendly staff (although seemingly stretched)
A wonderful rustic inn with staff as warm and friendly and the inn itself. The meal was delicious and the ale cold. If you want somewhere away from the bustle of town, this is the place.
We stayed at The Ginney guest house for a night. The owners very welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and well presented. The room was comfortable and the guest house close to the lakes and a town with good pubs and restaurants.
Great little 'olde worlde' inn. Very rustic in all aspects, as you would expect from a place of that age, but delivered a great experience. Rooms basic but clean, food fantastic, and all the staff very helpful. We had the pleasure of a power cut in the village on one night, which delayed our meal a little, but the staff were great, and we got to eat eventually when the power came back on after a couple of hours. Would have no problem recommending this property!
A very nice historic Inn on the edge of the lovely village of Grasmere. Very friendly, helpful staff, large comfortable rooms and good food available all day. A nice bar too.
A pretty, historic inn with great staff and a good restaurant - I’m still remembering our lovely waitress Rory. We loved the Lakes District and the location was good.
Increadibly nice and helpful staff. Spotless, very nice rooms. We had a lovely view of the hills and waterfall at the back of the Inn. The innkeeper, Emiko, had already turned the heating on in our room before we arrived as it was a somewhat cold and rainy day. Very thoughtful gesture. We warmly recommend this great Inn!
The feel of a genuinely historic inn, but with all the modern comforts . Great views, great walks and friendly staff
Idyllic location with historic and rustic buildings. Pastures with sheep grazing adjoined the accommodation. The on-site, historic pub, where we had a tasty dinner and an equally good breakfast, was charming and comfortable. Adjacent to the pub there was also an extensive outdoor seating area on a large lawn that we and others around us enjoyed, and where we enjoyed drinks from the pub.
Beautiful setting and unique experience to stay in the Shepherds Hut. Having basic kitchen facilities meant that we could self cater for dinner and breakfast. At first we were a bit taken aback with the distance and terrain to cross to get to the toilet and the facilities appeared very rustic. However, everything was there that we needed.
